$1,500 Pot Limit Omaha w/rebuys concludes with epic 5 hour heads-up battle

LAS VEGAS, June 23, 2007 – I had the pleasure of announcing the final table of Event #33 tonight in the ESPN Final Table Arena. It turned out to be the longest heads-up match of the 2007 WSOP. Alan Smurfit won his first WSOP bracelet, but it wasn't easy. The heads-up play was a grueling 167 hands that lasted 5 hours. The complete final table results were:

  1. Alan Smurfit $464,867

  2. Qushqar Morad $279,595

  3. Van Marcus $190,326

  4. Chris Bjorin $129,691

  5. Chau Giang $96,005

  6. Brandon Adams $75,794

  7. Robert Fellner $57,266

  8. Sunny Nijran $42,108

  9. Hilbert Shirey $30,317

I'd like to applaud the entire team that helped make this final table a smooth and enjoyable experience including BJ Nemeth and ThinkerGirl from PokerNews, ESPN and George Stevenson, Nolan Dalla, and all my WSOP co-workers. These events truly are a team effort.
